More than 400 million cups of coffee are drunk every day around the world. At the same time, most of the waste from it is thrown into the trash, meanwhile it can be reused.

Coffee grounds are a valuable organic resource that has many useful properties. They are good for the skin and hair, help remove unpleasant odors and repel garden pests, and can successfully replace many household cleaning products.

Fertilizer for plants

Coffee is a source of nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and magnesium. It acidifies the soil, stimulating the growth of plants that like acidic soil. Coffee grounds are ideal for fertilizing rosemary, roses, azaleas, blueberries, blueberries, as well as many garden perennials. All you need to do is pour the coffee waste over water and set it aside for a few hours.

Fight cellulite

As you know, coffee grounds are rich in caffeine and are often one of the ingredients used in anti-cellulite products. If you’re worried about orange peel on your thighs and buttocks, you don’t need to spend money on expensive cosmetics. Create your own effective cream. Mix the grounds with a little olive oil until you get a creamy, but not too runny consistency. Apply the paste to your legs, buttocks and thighs, leave it on for 20 minutes, then massage and rinse. For a visible effect, apply 1-2 times a week for at least a month.

Fuses can also be very helpful in this case. Just light them in places where insects gather. The coffee smell will deter intruders, and the effect will last up to 2 weeks.

Who among us has never had a problem with an unpleasant smell in the refrigerator? A simple solution – insert a cup with grounds of the center and in a few hours you can forget about the problem. After preparing food with a strong smell, such as fish, just wipe your knife, cutting board and hands with coffee grounds diluted in water.

Preparation for exfoliating and softening the skin

Coffee grounds are a versatile product suitable for all skin types. It can be used to make a mask or scrub to gently exfoliate and soften the skin. Here are two popular recipes for fans of natural cosmetics:

  • mask – Mix 1 teaspoon of grounds with 1 teaspoon of natural yogurt,
  • scrub – Mix 2 teaspoons of grounds with 2 teaspoons of almond oil and 1 teaspoon of honey.

Leave the mask on the skin for 5-10 minutes, and massage the scrub lightly to actually have some effect. After just the first application, your skin will become soft, smooth and firm.

For dark circles under the eyes

Coffee grounds are a fairly quick and easy way that really solves the problem of dark circles under the eyes and puffiness. Since caffeine has a toning effect, it neutralizes the effects of free radicals, thus slowing down the skin’s aging process. Just apply a mixture of grounds and water under the eyes for about 30 minutes.

Natural dye

Coffee waste is a natural, environmentally friendly dye. It can be used to dye Easter eggs, fabrics or paper. Coffee gives materials a noble brown hue. What’s more, with the help of diluted grounds you can paint – the more water you add, the lighter shade of brown you get.
